I visited Todai on Monday for the Spring Conference Meeting of the Institute of Electrostatics Japan. The Hongo campus is a very interesting marriage between the meiji style and modern building technologies and materials. The red gate: Akamon, and the Yoshida Auditorium pictured below, are the two well known landmarks of Todai.
The University of Tokyo (???? T?ky? daigaku), abbreviated as Todai (?? T?dai), is a major research university located in Tokyo, Japan. The University has 10 faculties with a total of around 30,000 students, 2,100 of whom are foreign. Its five campuses are in Hong?, Komaba, Kashiwa, Shirokane and Nakano. It is widely considered to be the most prestigious university in Japan.
